1.Assam Silk saree: Under this category, three types of silk sarees come i.e. Muga,Pat and Eric silk respectively.It was believed that muga silk could be dyed or bleached due to its low porosity, but it was a misconception ; muga takes dye like any other silk. It can be hand-washed with its lustre increasing after every wash.
2.Bandhej saree: It is the speciality of Rajasthan and Gujarat.The variety of bandhej saree is manufactured in Mandavi, Bhuj, Kutch, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Rajkot , Udaipur, Jaipur and Ajmer.It is decorated by plucking the cloth with the fingernails into many tiny bindings that form a prominent design.
3.Bhagalpuri saree: It is the speciality of Bhagalpur. Tussar silk or bhagalpuri silk is used .
4.Chanderi saree: It is made in Chanderi,Madhya Pradesh.Chanderi sarees are produced from three types of fabric: pure silk, Chanderi cotton and silk cotton.Traditional coin, floral art, peacocks and geometric designs are woven into beautiful Chanderi patterns. The saree is one of the finest in India and are known for their gold and silver sari, fine silk, and embroidery.
5.Kalamkari saree: It is hand printed or block printed produced mainly in India and Iran in which only natural dyes are used.There are two different styles of ksalamkari in India - the Srikalahasti style and the Machilipatnam style. Kalamkari also depicts stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata.
